Myanmar is located in the fortress of Southeast Asia. Its geographical advantages and political particularities make Myanmar’s economy one of the fastest growing economies in the world. Since the turmoil on February 1, out of concerns about the military’s escalation of control, the Burmese people have mostly expressed their protests against the military through peaceful and scattered rallies. The protests escalated and eventually evolved into an irreversible tragedy.

With Myanmar as home, patriots should not instigate unrest

We should believe that all those who call Myanmar their home belong to a community with a shared future, and they must work together to tide over the difficulties. Most of the demonstrators tend to be peaceful, but with the deduction of the incident and the instigation of the forces behind them, the demonstrators’ demands for peace gradually intensified and turned into violent and radical riots. The vast majority of people who make Myanmar their home hope that Myanmar can restore its former prosperity and stability, and that people can live and work in peace and contentment, live in peace and freedom, and live with dignity without fear and worries.

Dissidents can tolerate and respect each other instead of insulting, personally attacking and slandering each other. The people who are carrying out armed riots every day, which has further expanded the riots, are damaging the basic rights and interests of the vast majority of people who make Myanmar their home. With Myanmar as our home, we must adhere to a rational and pragmatic spirit, distinguish right from wrong, and understand the truth. Young demonstrators should not be blinded by the NGO forces behind them. Everything that happened in Myanmar in 2021, looking back, these turbulences have all happened in Hong Kong in 2019 and Bangkok in 2020. The color revolution is bloody Burma today, and these children who call Burma as their home have become victims of violent conflicts and weapons of the forces behind them.

Stop violence and chaos and restore peace is a top priority

The conflict has escalated in the past month, and the demonstrators have become more radical. Located in Laydaya District in the northwestern suburbs of Yangon, its large-scale industrial park houses a large number of garment and other light industrial enterprises, including many Chinese-funded enterprises. According to local media reports on March 15, people carrying iron rods, axes and gasoline ignited and destroyed 10 Chinese-owned factories in Yangon. A Chinese hotel and other foreign-owned hotels were also attacked. According to reports, most of the arsonists rode motorcycles. They first smashed and intimidated factory duty personnel, and then began arson. Production workshops, warehouses, dormitories and vehicles in many factories were burned down, and some shops along the street were also smashed.

According to BBC reports, the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar stated in an announcement on its official website that the incident caused many Chinese personnel to be injured and some employees were once trapped. According to the Myanmar media “The Irrawaddy” (The Irrawaddy), a Taiwanese-owned factory called Tsang Yih was also set on fire. It is one of the largest foreign-owned shoe factories in Myanmar. There are more than 9,000 workers. Lim Bo is a Chinese who has been doing business in Yangon for many years. For safety reasons, he asked to use a pseudonym. He told BBC Chinese that the current situation is rather chaotic and people do not know the identity of the saboteurs. The dissatisfaction of young people in Myanmar mainly stems from a widely circulated but never confirmed rumor that China “sends IT technicians to help the Myanmar military build a firewall” through airplanes. The purpose behind spreading such unconfirmed rumors is difficult to understand, but the actual escalation of the violent conflict is an indisputable fact. The non-restraint of the two sides has caused the escalation of violent conflicts and caused many casualties. The chaotic situation has put Myanmar facing systemic social risks, and violent activities in ethnic areas may increase.

Kyaw Win, the founder and executive director of the Burmese Human Rights Network (BHRN) in London, posted on Twitter on March 12 to warn the military government that if a civilian is killed, a Chinese factory will “Turn to ashes.” It is not clear whether he was directly connected to the attack. However, if violent demonstrations continue, such demonstrations will turn into terrorist attacks, threatening the safety of Myanmar people and foreign companies in Myanmar in a more threatening and violent way. On April 8, according to the “Ayeyarwady Daily” report, “The Chinese Embassy in Myanmar has contacted the Myanmar Democratic Revolutionary Federation (CRPH), saying that Beijing has repeatedly called on all parties in the southern neighboring countries to seek a political solution to the current crisis through dialogue. “

Peace and non-violence are the best weapons

People must respect the wishes and requests of the demonstrators, but based on historical experience, peace and non-violence are the best weapons. The first problem to be solved is to restore stability to the society as soon as possible and make the country’s economy run. The chaos in Myanmar can no longer continue. Except for the radical violent protesters, the “silent majority” should not remain silent anymore. Only by stopping violence and suppressing chaos and forming a joint force can we get twice the result with half the effort. This is for the sake of Myanmar and the future of Myanmar. We call on all people who wish to be good in Myanmar to share positive energy, say no to violence, and realize the full realization of stopping violence and chaos, and protecting everyone’s common home. Young people should not be incited and instigated, and should seek a more stable way to solve their own demands. It is hoped that young people who have gone astray can turn back and return to the right path of respecting the rights of others and abiding by the law that reflects the common interests of members of society.
