KLANG: A factory van driver has been arrested for criminal intimidation after attempting to beat up one of his passengers with a metal rod.

South Klang OCPD Asst Comm Cha Hoong Fong said they received a report from a factory worker who claimed he was in his room at a house on Jalan Batu Nilam 13, Bandar Bukit Tinggi 1, Klang when five men barged in and behaved aggressively at around 1.30am.

“He also claimed that one of the men was carrying a metal rod and attempted to beat him with it.

“The complainant managed to push the suspect out of his room and locked the door before calling police for help,” he said in a statement on Saturday (Jan 7).

He said a patrol car was dispatched to the scene and two men were arrested while three others managed to escape.

“Both suspects, aged 23 and 26 respectively, did not have any prior criminal record.

“Police also seized a 68cm-long metal rod,” he said.

He added that investigations revealed that the suspect had been scolded and berated by the complainant a day before the incident for being late.

He said the suspect worked as a factory van driver who was tasked with sending and picking up factory workers, including the complainant.

“Both suspects arrested are housemates of the complainant.

“The case has been classified as criminal intimidation,” he said, adding that the suspects have been remanded for four days.

He said police were also tracking down the three suspects still at large.
