GEORGE TOWN: Two suspected drug traffickers were nabbed by police during two raids in Sungai Dua and Butterworth on Sept 2.

Seberang Prai Utara OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Radzi Ahmad said police 14 packets of heroin weighing about 6.3kg valued at RM84,000 and two packages of cannabis weighing about 47.8g valued at RM2,390.

“Based on our intelligence report, we believe that the drug syndicate has been active since June in the local market. The drugs seized could have been used by up to 31,500 addicts.

“Both suspects tested positive for tetrahydrocannabinol and ketamine. The also had previous records of previous crimes and drug abuse,” he said in a statement here Monday (Sept 5).

He said the men, aged 25 and 26, were remanded until Sept 8.

He added that police confiscated two vehicles and jewellery worth RM49,750 under the Dangerous Drugs Act (Forfeiture) 1988. – Bernama
