JOHOR BARU: A 16-year-old boy has been found drowned and a woman, believed to be his mother, remains missing after the duo were last seen falling off a cliff into the sea in Danga Bay here.

Larkin Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Mohd Suhaimi Jamal said 16 firemen from the station and six from Skudai were deployed to the scene after receiving a call about the incident at about 5.35pm on Sunday (Sept 11).

He said an eyewitness saw the boy and the woman at the top of the cliff, which is about nine metres from sea level.

“The body of the teenager was found about three metres away from where he fell and was declared dead by medical officers at the scene,” he said in a statement.

He added that the other missing victim, a 37-year-old, is believed to be the teenager’s mother.

“The body of the teenager has been handed over to the police for further action while an operation to look for the other victim is still ongoing,” he said.
