KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia recorded 11,233 recoveries from Covid-19 compared with 6,623 new cases, says Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

The Health director-general said 6,610 of the new cases were local infections with 96.1% being Malaysians and 3.9% being foreigners.

He added that the new cases bring the cumulative figure to 4,389,025.

Six new clusters were detected on Sunday, bringing the number of active clusters to 120.

Dr Noor Hisham said 241 patients were admitted to hospital, comprising 106 cases in Categories 3, 4 and 5 and 135 cases in Categories 1 and 2.

For beds at Low-Risk Covid-19 Treatment and Quarantine Centres, only Perak recorded an occupancy rate above 50%, at 58%.

Dr Noor Hisham said the number of patients on ventilators dropped to 76, giving a ventilator usage rate of 10%.

The national infectivity rate stood at 0.86, with Selangor registering the highest value at 0.89.

A total of 412,026 children, aged between five and 11, or 11.6% of the group, have completed their vaccination under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme for Children.

Based on the CovidNow website, 1,412,867 children or 39.8% have received at least one dose of a vaccine.

For adolescents aged between 12 and 17, a total of 2,873,414 or 92.4% have completed their vaccination, while 2,974,984 or 95.7% have received at least one dose.

As for the adult population, a total of 15,974,034 or 67.9% have received the booster dose, 22,960,906 or 97.6% have completed both doses and 23,238,026 or 98.8% have received at least one dose.

On Sunday, 60,184 doses were dispensed with 11,268 of them as the first dose, 45,359 as second dose and 3,557 as booster dose, bringing the cumulative number administered under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme to 69,633,398 doses.

According to the Health Ministry’s GitHub portal, 12 deaths were recorded with four deaths in Kedah, followed by Penang (three), Sarawak (two) and one death each in Melaka, Perak and Selangor. — Bernama
