PETALING JAYA: A group of 25 residential associations in Puncak Alam have requested for an East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) station, says Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz.

Tengku Zafrul said when he went to Kuala Selangor in May, among the issues raised by the group of residential associations in Puncak Alam was the need for an ECRL station.

“I’ve brought their request to the consideration of those responsible and Alhamdulillah, Puncak Alam will have its own ECRL station.

“The strengthening of the public transport system will certainly make it easier for Kuala Selangor residents. At its height, it is estimated that 300,000 passengers will use the Puncak Alam station,” he said in a Facebook post on Wednesday (Aug 3).

The ECRL alignment would not only benefit Kuala Selangor residents but those in other areas in Selangor as well.

The ECRL alignment involving Selangor, which is under Section C, is divided into two –Section C1 from Mentakab to ITT Gombak and Section C2 from Gombak to Port Klang via Serendah.

The 74.25km alignment for Section C2 comprises four stations – Serendah Baru (passengers and cargo), Puncak Alam (passenger station), Kapar (passenger station) and Port Klang (passengers and cargo).

“InsyaAllah, a large majority of Selangor residents will benefit from this development,” said Tengku Zafrul.

In June, Tengku Zafrul had announced the approval for the construction of the Puncak Alam ECRL station.

Earlier, Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong said in a written reply to Parliament that Section C2 of the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) that passes through Selangor, including the Puncak Alam station, was expected to be completed by Dec 31, 2027.
