KUALA LUMPUR: Buoyed by the performance of his administration after 100 days in office, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob immediately gave his Cabinet ministers both mid- and long-term goals for them to meet.
“The achievements of the 100-Day Aspirasi Keluarga Malaysia (Malaysian Family Aspiration) will not end here.
“Instead, our aspiration is that our work with the rakyat will be continuous through a short-term six-month plan and a long-term target,” the Prime Minister said when launching the 100-Day Malaysian Family Aspiration programme yesterday.
Although his ministers have yet to achieve 100% of the 140 targets set for their first 100 days in office, he said they had done well.
“At present, the Cabinet ministers have achieved about 90% of their targets. However, some of their performances cannot be measured merely through surveys.
“Nevertheless, it is not an excuse for us to pat ourselves on the back. We will inject more effort and continue working with the rakyat,” he added.
Ismail Sabri noted that some 190,914 families had taken part in a survey to gauge their “happiness” level on the government’s 100-day performance.
He said the survey was in line with the Key Happiness Outcome (KHO) evaluation introduced under the Malaysian Family concept to complete the 100-day performance target.
“The KHO will measure the level of satisfaction of the rakyat at all times.
“It will improve the nation’s standing in the World Happiness Report, of which we are at 81st place in 2021,” he added.
It is also the first time that the KHO is being used to evaluate the government’s performance.
Among the achievements Ismail Sabri cited was the restructuring and revival of the nation’s economy amid the challenges brought about by the pandemic.
He said this had led to an increase of 24.7% in exports and 11.6% in sales in the manufacturing sector in October this year.
He added that the nation also saw a 56% increase in direct foreign investment (FDI) from RM8.2bil in the second quarter of this year to RM12.8bil in the third quarter.
“This shows that the total FDI for the first nine months of this year was more than RM30bil, which is an increase of some 300% compared to the same period last year.
“These figures were achieved despite borders being closed due to the pandemic,” he said.
He also said the International Trade and Industry Ministry succeeded in increasing FDI for the manufacturing sector by approving projects worth RM109.1bil in the first 100 days of his administration.
Ismail Sabri also listed several other achievements, among them the RM3.3bil for the Wages Subsidy Programme which benefited more than 189,000 employers and 1.9 million workers.
He also said the government had allocated RM8.2bil to help some 9.6 million eligible recipients under the Keluarga Malaysia Assistance (BKC) regardless of their racial or religious background.
Additionally, 24,300 job opportunities were offered during the four-day event to mark the launch of the 100-Day Malaysian Family Aspiration programme.
Ismail Sabri had previously announced during the unveiling of his Cabinet on Aug 27 that the newly appointed ministers were given 100 days to achieve their performance targets once in office.
A total of 31 ministries and five agencies under the Prime Minister’s Department were required to achieve set targets.
The targets were based on evaluations on performance, leadership and public perception.
The performance achievements are in line with the Malaysian Family concept of inclusivity, common ground and contentment.
The 100-day performance was monitored jointly by the Office of the Chief Secretary to the Government, the Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (Mampu) and the Shared Prosperity Delivery Unit from Sept 1 to Dec 9.
The 100-Day Malaysian Family Aspiration programme launch was marked with a four-day carnival that ends on Dec 12 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, showcasing various ministerial achievements and services.
