Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 5

Mobvoi has finally launched the TicWatch Pro 5 after it was vaguely teased almost a year ago alongside the announcement of the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Plus Gen 1 chipset for wearables, with many leaks coming out since. The smartwatch is actually the first device to feature the Plus version of the Qualcomm SoC and it even runs on Wear OS 3.5.

First off, the TicWatch Pro 5 sports a two-layer design for the 1.43-inch display,  stacking an efficient ultra-low-power display on top of an OLED panel. The low-power display enables users to access critical information without sapping the battery, including the time, heart rate, blood oxygen level, calories, and a compass.

The watch has a rotating crown for navigation with haptic feedback. As for durability, the aluminium case is water resistant to 5ATM while the display is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass anti-fingerprint cover and it even features MIL-STD-810G certification against rain, sand, ice, shocks, and vibrations.

For health and fitness, it uses its sensors to track your heart rate, blood oxygen, respiratory rate, stress level, and heart health. There are also over 100 workout modes to accurately track all your movement and exercises, along with built-in GPS.

When it comes to battery life, the brand fitted the TicWatch Pro 5 with a 628mAh battery and claims that it can last up to 80 days in Smart Mode and 45 days in Essential Mode. The watch even supports fast charging that lets users juice it up to 65% in 30 minutes.

Connectivity-wise, it has Bluetooth 5.2 and is able to make and receive phone calls when connected to a phone. On the software side, like several smartwatches with Wear OS 3, it lacks Google Assistant or any other voice assistant, although the Chinese company has confirmed to 9to5google that it is working with Google to add Assistant support in the future.

The TicWatch Pro 5 is only available in black and retails for US$349.99 (~RM1,618). There is no word yet on whether the wearable will be making its way to Malaysia.
