KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian researchers bagged three main prizes apart from 24 gold, 27 silver and 37 bronze medals at the Seoul International Invention Fair (SIIF 2021) held from Dec 1 to 4.

Malaysian Association of Research Scientists (MARS) president Dr Muhd Noor Muhd Yunus said with the criteria for evaluation based on design technology level, product marketability and market value, Malaysian researchers won two grand prizes and one best inventor award.

According to MARS secretary Hasfazilah Hassan, Malaysia’s entries had doubled from last year, bringing the total to 113 innovations from 23 institutions of higher learning and research institutions.

“The achievement attained at an international stage like this, was a great honour and appreciation for the efforts of researchers from Malaysia,” he said in a statement.

MARS is an exclusive organisation appointed by the Korea Invention Promotion Association (KIPA) to bring in Malaysian innovation entries to SIIF.

Meanwhile, the competition which took place in Seoul, South Korea had managed to gather no less than 465 invention products from more than 24 countries. – Bernama
