KUCHING: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) will wait for the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s decision on who will be appointed the 10th prime minister of Malaysia.
GPS said the nation’s interests should be prioritised over personal interests in order to form a stable government for the sake of the people and nation.
“GPS had proposed the formation of a Malaysian government from a pact comprising Perikatan Nasional, Barisan Nasional, GPS and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), which represents Malaysians of all races and religions,” it said in a statement issued by the Sarawak Premier’s Office.
In view of post-GE15 political developments in Peninsular Malaysia, GPS believed that the people’s mandate must be respected.
“As such, GPS leaves it to the discretion of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, in accordance with his constitutional role, to appoint a prime minister who will lead a strong government to administer the nation,” it said.
With no decision yet from Istana Negara on who will be the prime minister, Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg declined to comment further yesterday on the latest political developments.
