IPOH: Incumbent Kampar MP Thomas Su will not be contesting as the DAP candidate for the 15th General Election.

Su, who won the seat in GE14, was previously the Ipoh Timor MP.

He was replaced by incumbent Keranji assemblyman Chong Zhemin.

In March last year, a ruckus broke out at the 19th Perak DAP state convention when Su alleged others were obtaining an unfair advantage for the state party polls.

He was then suspended by the party’s disciplinary committee for three months in July last year.

The announcement of the candidates were made by DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke at Hotel Kinta Riverfront here last night.

Perak DAP would be contesting eight parliamentary and 19 state seats in GE15.

DAP would also be contesting in the Umno stronghold of Gerik by fielding a new face Ahmad Termizi Mohd Jam.

A number of the candidates were new faces, while some incumbents state assemblymen and MPs have been moved to different constituencies.

Out of the five women candidates announced, three are new faces. They are former Kota Alam Shah assemblyman M. Manogaran daughter Thulsi Thivani who will contest in Buntong, V. Bavani (Malim Nawar) and Koo Haai Yen (Keranji)

Perak DAP chairman Nga Kor Ming would be defending his Teluk Intan parliamentary seat, and would be contesting in Kepayang. In GE14 he contested in the Aulong state seat.

Two incumbents decided not to contest in this election to focus on their profession.

They are Kepayang incumbent Dr Ko Chung Sen and Astaka incumbent Teoh Yee Chern, both wanting to concentrate on their careers as a doctor and lawyer respectively.

Incumbent Pasir Berdamar assemblyman Terrence Naidu was also replaced by a new face Woo Kah Leong.

Pasir Pinji incumbent Howard Lee will contest at the Ipoh Timor parliamentary seat.

State party adviser Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham will defend his Beruas parliamentary seat.

There were nine new faces for the state seats that include Ong Seng Guan (Pokok Assam), Goh See Hun (Pasir Pinji), Tiw Tee Siang (Tronoh), Jason Ng Thien Yeong (Astaka).

The other incumbents who will be defending their parliamentary seats are M. Kulasegaran (Ipoh Barat), V.Sivakumar (Batu Gajah).

Ipoh Timur parliamentary seat incumbent Wong Kah Woh will contest for the Taiping parliamentary seat, while its incumbent Teh Kok Lim would contest for the Aulong state seat.

Those defending their state seats are Loh Sze Yee (Jalong), Wong May Ing (Pantai Remis), A.Sivanesan (Sungkai), Jenny Choy (Canning), Abdul Aziz Bari (Tebing Tinggi), Cheah Poh Hian (Jelapang), Steven Chaw (Menglembu), Ong Boon Piow (Bercham).
