SEREMBAN: A 53-year-old man will be charged at the Magistrate’s Court in Port Dickson on Friday (Dec 24) for abetting the kidnap and murder of a 39-year-old technician.

Port Dickson police chief Supt Aidi Sham Mohamed said the suspect, a businessman from Rasah Kemayan with a Datuk title, was arrested on Dec 15 and remanded for nine days.

“We have received instructions from the Attorney General’s chambers to charge the suspect under Section 109 of the Penal Code read together with Section 302 of the same,” he said in a statement.

Four suspects have so far been charged with the kidnap and murder of A. Vasudevan.

They are security supervisor A. Devadas, 41; lorry driver Xavier Peter, 42; chief security officer M. Murugan, 44; and 43-year-old Wong Yon Kuan, 43.

The were jointly charged with another individual still at large with committing the offences between 5.40am and 9.45am on Nov 13 at a house in Bandar Springhill.

They were charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code read together with Section 34 of the same legislation for the murder, which carries the mandatory death penalty upon conviction.

The suspects were also charged under Section 364 of the Penal Code with kidnapping the victim, an offence, which also carries the death penalty or imprisonment of up to 30 years and whipping.

All four were also slapped with a third charge under Section 170 of the Penal Code for impersonating policemen when committing the crimes.

According to the facts of the case, the victim was abducted from his house by several men claiming to be police in the early hours of Nov 13.

The victim was declared dead at the Selayang Hospital about four hours later.

Supt Aidi Sham had said preliminary police investigations revealed that several individuals wearing yellow vests arrived at the victim’s family home at around 5.40am on the day of the incident in a white van with the word “Polis” on the door.

They reportedly forced their way in and claimed to be investigating a robbery.

They assaulted the victim and took him away.

His wife later lodged a police report, Supt Aidi Sham said.

A post-mortem on the deceased showed that the cause of death was blunt trauma to the head.
