KUALA LUMPUR: A bank located near the Crackhouse Comedy Club was also splashed with paint at Taman Tun Dr Ismail here.
Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Amihizam Abdul Shukor said bank staff realised this when they came in for work at around 8.15am on Tuesday (July 19).
“We received a report from a 50-year-old man who works at the bank who claimed that the staff entrance door had been splashed with black paint.
“He estimates the damage to be worth at least RM3,000,” ACP Amihizam said in a statement on Tuesday.
He said police have analysed closed circuit television footage (CCTV) and found that the incident took place between 4.15am and 5.09am.
“We also received a report from the 39-year-old owner of the Crackhouse Comedy Club who claimed the premises were also splashed with paint.
“Looking at the two reports, we analysed more CCTV footage from the bank and other neighbouring premises and found that two men in a car had thrown two plastic bags containing red and black paint toward the club’s signboard but one of them missed and hit the bank door,” he said.
ACP Amihizam said the CCTV footage would be sent to the police forensic department for further analysis.
“We have opened investigations under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief resulting in loss or damage,” he said.
