IPOH: Both DAP and Parti Amanah Negara announced their respective candidates for the Changkat Jong state seat on the same day.

Changkat Jong is one of the state seats under the Teluk Intan parliamentary seat.

In the morning state Amanah chairman Datuk Asmuni Awi announced Muhaimin Sulam as the party’s candidate, while DAP’s secretary-general Anthony Loke made an announcement that Badrul Hisham Badarudin would be the party’s candidate later in the evening.

Both DAP and Amanah are part of Pakatan Harapan.

In a press conference when asked about the matter, Loke said the decision had already been made by the Pakatan Harapan’s presidential council.

“It was decided that DAP will contest in Changkat Jong during the meeting by the top three leaders on Thursday (Oct 27).

“The announcement was made at the state level on Amanah’s candidate, and I am sure that there is some misunderstanding that can be resolved.

“There will definitely not be two candidates from Harapan contesting there. There will be no clashes,” he said.
