KUALA LUMPUR: The Arrest Azam Baki Action Committee has changed its venue for the proposed rally on Saturday (Jan 22).

In a statement on Friday (Jan 21) night, the committee said it would hold its demonstration under the Bangsar LRT Station.

“The order by the police aims to prevent the #TangkapAzamBaki campaign which would take place in three locations; Sogo, Dataran Merdeka and Masjid Jamek,” it said.

The committee said it had not forgotten that former prime minister Najib Razak himself was arrested by the police because he was involved in corruption.

“On the other hand, Azam Baki is only the Chief Commissioner of the MACC but seems to be more invulnerable and powerful than the person who once held the highest position in the country.

“Seeing this situation, we, as concerned Malaysians, have no choice but to continue with the #TangkapAzamBaki call on Saturday at 11am, under the Bangsar LRT Station along Jalan Bangsar,” it said, adding that the campaign which was supported by 33 NGOs and 11 political organisations would be conducted peacefully in accordance with SOPs to minimise the spread of the Covid-19 and the safety of Malaysians as a whole.

It added that resigning was no longer an option.
