Max Payne

Max Payne was first released all the way back in 2001, with the sequel getting released two years later. Now, about two decades after, both games will be remade for current generation consoles and PC.

Remedy Entertainment, the developers of the original games, announced that it will be working with Rockstar Games for the remakes of both Max Payne and its sequel. The latter also happens to be the publisher of the original games.

Though as it stands, the announcement simply means that the devs have been given the green light to work on the Max Payne remakes. In other words, it will be awhile before they will actually be in the market. But when they do, they will be available on current generation consoles and PC.

Perhaps it’s worth noting that the games are being made using the Northlight engine. This was first used in Quantum Break from 2016, with the 2019 title Control also making use of the engine.

Both Max Payne titles will be sold in a bundle, in a fashion similar to the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy Remaster. With that being said, there are also concerns that the originals will get delisted from digital storefronts once the remakes get released, just like the GTA remasters.
