Qualcomm has officially unveiled the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. But prior to the official reveal, a leak indicated that the company has another chipset waiting to be revealed. Said chipset will also be powering a mobile gaming device that it is making in collaboration with gaming peripheral maker Razer.
Videocardz reports that the handheld holds a Qualcomm Snapdragon G3x chipset inside. Other things that it has included is a 120Hz HDR OLED display and a 6000mAh battery. All that being said, the handheld will be focusing on game streaming, rather than being a dedicated gaming device. With that, it will support services like Microsoft’s xCloud, as well as directly from a console or PC.
The handheld itself doesn’t have a name yet, as it is still a dev kit at this point. As such, if it were to be sold in the market as an actual product, it is possible that it will look very different for one, as well as pack different internals.
As Videocardz notes, these slides were supposed to still be under embargo. More information is expected to become available when the embargo lifts. This will likely happen sometime tomorrow, as Snapdragon Tech Summit is still ongoing, as Qualcomm has just revealed the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 today.
