After months of speculation, POCO has officially announced that it will be releasing an update to its X series of midrange smartphones next week. This time there will be two devices that will succeed last year’s X4 Pro: a standard POCO X5 and a higher-end X5 Pro.

The new phone was potentially first spotted in the hands of an Indian cricketer earlier this month, who has officially been confirmed as the brand’s ambassador. Despite that, the company has not revealed any official information about the new lineup other than their names, although a Bulgarian retailer may have accidentally leaked most of the phones’ specs sheet last week.

If the leak holds true, the X5 Pro will only be an incremental update from its predecessor, with the biggest upgrade being the SoC. It will apparently sport the same 6.67-inch AMOLED display as the X4 Pro, and while the refresh rate is not listed, it will most likely have a 120Hz display just like the previous model.

The POCO X5 Pro will reportedly also be running on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G chipset, with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage with a microSD card slot. The camera setup purportedly won’t change with a 108MP primary lens, an 8MP ultra-wide, and a 2MP sensor.

The vanilla version carries many of the same features as its higher end counterpart but, of course, with some downgrades. The POCO X5 is listed as using the same 6.7-inch 120Hz AMOLED display and run on the X4 Pro’s Snapdragon 695 chip.

While both phones are said to be powered by a 5,000mAh battery, the charging speed between the X5 and X5 Pro will reportedly differ using 33W and 67W respectively. The new POCO phones will have an online global launch on 6 February, 8PM (Malaysian time).
