Petra News, who launched The Vibes in September last year, will be launching its second title, Getaran.my, at 3:30 pm today. The launch of the Malay-language portal which is set to happen virtually on its website, will signify Petra News’ second initiative in its push for social journalism.

According to an article on The Vibes, Getaran’s tagline is “Gema Berita dan Hiburan” as it aims to provide balanced news and entertainment content.

The article also states that Getaran will focus on human interest stories and matters that affect the community while maintaining an optimistic and positive tone.

The line-up of columnists for Getaran include Wirda Adnan, Eddin Khoo, Roslen Fadzil and Ad Samad.

According to the article published by The Vibes regarding the launch, its managing editor, Terence Fernandez said both The Vibes and Getaran give opportunities to journalists who lost their jobs due to the economic crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Petra News which presumably funds Getaran, falls under the Petra Group, which is committed to the commercialisation of long term, sustainable solutions to key challenges facing humanity.

The Vibes was launched last year during Petra Group’s Malaysia Day celebration at the Magellan Sutera Harbour Resort in Sabah and attendees included PKR leader Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Sabah PKR chief, Datuk Christina Liew.
