Two months after it was first revealed to the world, OPPO officially launched its Pad Air tablet in Malaysia. As you can recall, the Pad Air was generally derived from the original OPPO Pad to have a more compact footprint than its higher-end sibling.

Equipped with a 10.36-inch IPS display alongside a native resolution of 2000 x 1200, 60Hz refresh rate, and 120Hz touch sampling rate, the Pad Air is running on the mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 processor which is another factor that differentiates the new model from the original Pad. Further emphasising its compact characteristic, OPPO also claimed that the Pad Air weighs just around 440g alongside a thickness of 6.94mm which is further accented by the texturized metal back that looks rather sleek.

In Malaysia, Pad Air comes standard with 4GB of LPDDR4X-2133 RAM alongside two options of UFS2.2-based internal storage. The tablet also features a function called Extended RAM that allows users to transform up to 3GB of storage space into virtual RAM to help boost its performance.

Pre-installed with ColorOS 12.1, OPPO has implemented several UX features that have been designed to take advantage of the tablet’s form factor including a split screen view and the ability to run two instances of the same app on the same screen. There is also the Multi-Screen Connect feature that allows users to multi-task with ColorOS 12.1-based phones through functions such as drag-and-drop file controls, and clipboard sharing.

For those who love to use tablets as their entertainment device, Pad Air has a quad stereo speaker setup complete with Dolby Atmos enhancement. When it comes to the camera, the Pad Air features a rather modest implementation though in the form of an 8MP f/2.0 rear snapper as well as a front-facing 5MP f/2.2 camera.

Completing the tablet’s general specifications is a massive 7100mAh battery which apparently allows the Pad Air to churn through 12 hours of movies or 15 hours of continuous video calls. Despite being an OPPO device, it does not come with VOOC Flash Charge tech but the table still supports USB-PD fast charger with power ratings of up to 18W.
