The upcoming OnePlus 10T isn’t due for launch just yet but that hasn’t stopped the company from dripping out some of its specs to tease fans. Recently, the company has revealed quite a number of details ahead of its official launch which is going to take place on 3 August.

Speaking to The Verge, the company has confirmed a recent rumour about its iconic alert slider. As many have suspected, the 10T will ship out without the mute switch on the side, a feature that has long been prominent on OnePlus flagships. While it’s a relatively small thing, not many brands have implemented a physical button for muting phones, with the main exceptions being Apple and, up until now, OnePlus.

OnePlus chief designer Hope Liu told The Verge that getting rid of the slider was necessary to make room for other components such as “high wattage charging, a large battery capacity, and better antenna signal.” While it still hasn’t been confirmed, the 10T is expected to feature 150W charging.

According to Liu, the phone is fitted with two “charging pumps” compared to just one in the OnePlus 10 Pro, as well as 15 separate antennas to improve the signal when holding the phone horizontally for a better online gaming experience. The alert slider apparently takes up 30 mm² of space on the motherboard, so the company chose this compromise to avoid having to make the OnePlus 10T thicker.

New images reveal that the upcoming device looks mostly the same as the 10 Pro, but with the Hasselblad branding noticeably missing from its camera bump. At the same time, the camera bump also gets a new design that blends it with the backplate, similar to what we’ve seen in the OPPO Find X3 Pro.

Releasing the phone sans Hasselblad is another compromise that the company had to make to get the phone to a certain price point, though the main camera is getting a slight upgrade from 48MP to 50MP. Liu also confirmed that the display is 6.7 inches but did not divulge the refresh rate.

Unlike the curved display on its predecessor, the OnePlus 10T also seems to be sporting a flat display. To be available in matte black and glossy green, it won’t ship with OxygenOS 13 but nevertheless, the device will be powered by the top-tier Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset.
