If you needed a map that shows you what sort of network coverage you have in an area, you would use the JENDELA Map. This includes fixed broadband services by ISPs as well as cellular and wireless broadband services by telcos. The service has recently gotten an update, and now shows 5G network coverage.
That being said, the only telco that is offering 5G at all right now is Yes. And even then, this is only available in very limited locations. Though while you are here, you can check the availability of 4G, as well as 2G, for all the available telcos. If you don’t yet have a mobile number and are looking to get one, or are contemplating switching providers, the JENDELA Map would be the one to use.
That being said, you’ll notice that looking at 3G coverage is not an option. This is because it has been removed as part of the update. Not particularly surprising, since it’s part of the JENDELA plan to begin with. The shutdown was originally supposed to be completed by the end of last year, but the process has been delayed by floods during the monsoon season.
In addition to checking ISP and telco coverage, the JENDELA Map also shows areas with access to the national digital TV broadcast, myFreeview. Other things you can do here include get news updates from the MCMC, and search for a Pusat Internet Komuniti. There’s even a point-of-interest feature that shows a list of places to visit, much like your average map app would.
You can access the JENDELA Map by hitting the link below. Alternatively you can also get the mobile app, which is available on both Android and iOS, to do most of the same things as the web portal. The app was launched earlier this year.
