Grand Theft Auto 6

Grand Theft Auto 6 is the next big project on the Rockstar Games pipeline. The studio confirmed that it was working on the game back in February of this year. While the company did not confirm when it will be released, previous reports indicated that the game won’t be ready for launch until at least 2025. But being three years away from launch does not prevent bits of the work in progress from being leaked onto the internet.

PC Gamer reports that a user on GTAForums going by the handle of “teapotuberhacker” posted 90 videos claimed to be from a test build of Grand Theft Auto 6, running with “GTA 5 and 6 source code and assets”. These come up to about 3GB in size, so it’s a pretty substantial leak to say the least. Some of these have already been reposted on other sites such as Twitter to preserve it in case of a takedown, as the internet usually does. The legitimacy of the leak has since been confirmed by Jason Schreier of Bloomberg, citing Rockstar Games sources.

From the leaked content, it confirms previous rumours about a Bonnie and Clyde-esque criminal duo. The setting also looks a lot like a modern rendition of Vice City, just like GTA 5 featured a modern take of Los Santos, one third of San Andreas. Speaking of which, there is one clip that references a minor scene in GTA 5, meaning that, chronologically, GTA 6 will take place after the current game. Said clip also has pretty incredible voice acting, with the kind of silly dialogue that is just quintessentially Grand Theft Auto.

If you’re the sort who loves spoilers rather than loathe them, you can find some of the reposted content via the PC Gamer report linked below. The original post containing the 3GB pack of 90 GTA 6 test build videos on GTAForums has since been removed, which is unsurprising.
