AMD’s upcoming entry-level Radeon RX 6500XT will supposedly be the company’s first GPU to use the 6nm process. Moreover, it appears that a launch has also been set for the card: 19 January next month.

The information alleged comes from a close source to the serial leakster site, Videocardz, known simply by the handle Disclosuzen. On another note, Disclosuzen also told Videocardz that another entry-level GPU, the RX 6400, will not be distributed via AMD’s AiB partners, but exclusively through OEMs.

For the record, the informant doesn’t exactly say which foundry will be providing the process node for the Navi 24 but at this stage, it’s likely to be TSMC and its N6 process. On that note, this would make the 6500XT the second card to be based on the 6nm die lithography; the first GPU lineup that is set to ship out using the same process are Intel’s ARC Alchemist graphics card.

Getting back on point and in the case of the upcoming Navi 24 GPU, the same informant also says that AMD will be introducing a new “specs metric”, which is Memory Bandwidth with AMD’s Infinity Cache. Specifically, the RX 6500XT is expected to have 23GB/s of bandwidth, while the RX 6400 will have 216GB/s. As for power consumption, we could be looking at an average of 107W and 53W, respectively.

AMD is expected to break its silence on the upcoming entry-level Radeon GPUs during its CES 2022 keynote but, as always, none of this information has been confirmed and as such, take this news with a grain of salt until then.
